The information gathered by career counselors when working with their clients can lead to great insights and the fodder for developing direction and planning. With so many assessment instruments available, it can be challenging to pick and choose. Values instruments can often be overlooked, but they can sometimes be the catalyst for clients to make their career directions. Values not only tap into client motivations but can also serve as elements for establishing career criteria.

This presentation will:

  • Identify values instruments that can be useful in career development

  • Clarify the value of values information to the career counseling engagement

  • Share information about the creation and background of the CCS*

  • Clarify the connection between values and job satisfaction

  • Demonstrate how values information is used in relation to other assessment data

  • Provide examples of how the CCS was used to assist clients in their career exploration

Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to request a free CCS assessment to take.

*The Career Compatibility Scale (CCS©) helps you understand what motivates you and what you value at work—and whether your current job is meeting your needs. The instrument also allows for a gap analysis—ideal versus reality of each item as well as a measure of what work elements are most important to you.
